Faith for the Future
Faith for the Future: Trusting God Amid Uncertainty
As electricians, we work with circuits, conductors, and careful planning to ensure everything functions as it should. Every installation requires precision, and yet, no matter how well we plan, unforeseen challenges arise—wires get damaged, connections fail, and sometimes, things just don’t go as expected.
Life is much the same way. No matter how carefully we plan for the future, we cannot control it. We don’t even know what will happen later today, let alone tomorrow. In Matthew 6:34, Jesus reminds us:
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
At first glance, this verse might seem to suggest that we should live carefreely, without any regard for the future. But is that really what God wants for us? Absolutely not! God calls us to be wise stewards of what He has entrusted to us. That means we must prepare, grow, and develop—just as we do in our work.
Faith Doesn’t Mean Neglecting Responsibility
Faith is not about sitting back and waiting for things to happen. If an electrician never learns new skills, never maintains his tools, and never takes time to plan an installation, failure is guaranteed. Likewise, in our spiritual lives and personal growth, we must take action.
God has given us resources, talents, and opportunities, and He expects us to use them wisely. Proverbs 16:9 says:
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
This verse teaches us that planning is important, but ultimately, God is in control. We do our part—learning, working, and making wise decisions—while trusting Him to guide the way.
Growing Through Trust and Action
- Prepare, but Trust – Just like we check our tools before starting a job, we should prepare for the future. But rather than worrying, we must trust that God will provide and lead us.
- Invest in Growth – Whether it’s growing our faith, learning new skills, or developing character, we are called to improve and multiply what God has given us. The parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30 teaches us that God rewards those who use and develop what He has entrusted to them.
- Stay Ready for Change – No installation goes exactly as planned. Likewise, life brings surprises. We need to be flexible, adjusting when God redirects our path.
Walking in Faith, Working with Purpose
While we don’t know what the future holds, we do know the One who holds the future. Our responsibility is to walk in faith, work with integrity, and trust that God’s plan is greater than our own.
So, as you step into this week, remember: you don’t need to fear what’s ahead. Instead, plan with wisdom, work with excellence, and trust God with the rest. He is faithful, and His promises for your life will never fail.
Be blessed and stay strong in faith!
