Be Kind to Others
Be Kind to Others – You Never Know Their Struggles
"Do to others as you would have them do to you." – Luke 6:31
In a world that often feels rushed, competitive, and judgmental, kindness is a rare but powerful gift. As electricians, we interact with many people—some grateful and kind, others impatient or dismissive. In these moments, we have a choice: respond with frustration or extend grace.
But here’s the truth: we never truly know what someone else is going through. The person who appears angry or distant might be carrying unseen burdens. The quiet one in the corner may be fighting battles they never speak of. Our challenge is to treat every person with dignity and respect, no matter their appearance, status, or attitude.
The Power of Kindness in Everyday Life
1. Judging by Looks Can Be Deceptive
It’s easy to assume things based on appearance. Someone who looks successful may be struggling behind closed doors, and someone who appears poor might have a wealth of wisdom and kindness to offer. In the electrical trade, we sometimes meet clients who judge us by our work clothes or dirty hands. But our worth isn’t defined by how we look—it’s found in our skills, our work ethic, and our character.
Likewise, we must not judge others by their outward appearance. God sees the heart, not the outer shell (1 Samuel 16:7). Let’s strive to do the same.
2. Everyone is Fighting a Battle You Cannot See
That difficult customer might have just lost a loved one.
That impatient supplier might be facing financial ruin.
That grumpy coworker might be dealing with personal struggles.
Their actions may not be about you at all. A kind word, a bit of patience, or even a smile can make a difference. You never know when you might be the only light in someone’s dark day.
3. Respect and Dignity Should Not Be Earned—They Should Be Given Freely
True kindness isn’t about who "deserves" it. It’s a reflection of who we are. When we choose to treat others with respect and dignity, we create an environment where goodness thrives.
Jesus Himself demonstrated this time and again—He didn’t reject the outcasts of society. Instead, He welcomed them with love, offering hope where the world had turned its back. If we follow His example, we can make our workplaces, homes, and communities places where people feel valued.
The Ripple Effect of Kindness
Kindness is contagious. A small act of compassion can inspire others to do the same. Here are some ways to spread kindness in your daily work as an electrician:
- With Customers: Be patient when explaining things. A frustrated client might just be overwhelmed.
- With Colleagues: If a teammate is struggling, offer a helping hand or an encouraging word.
- With Apprentices: They may lack experience, but with the right guidance and respect, they can grow into confident professionals.
Even a simple “Good morning,” “Thank you,” or “I appreciate you” can make a lasting impact.
Kindness Reflects the Heart of God
As believers, we are called to be the light of the world (Matthew 5:14-16). This doesn’t always mean preaching; sometimes, it just means treating others with the love and respect that Jesus showed us.
So, this week, let’s challenge ourselves:
- Pause before reacting.
- Give people the benefit of the doubt.
- Choose words that build up rather than tear down.
- Show kindness even when it’s not returned.
Because at the end of the day, our actions reflect who we are—not who others are.
Final Thought: Who Needs Your Kindness Today?
Think about the people in your life—at work, at home, or even strangers you cross paths with. Who needs kindness today? Who needs a word of encouragement?
Let’s go out and be the electricians who don’t just fix circuits, but who brighten lives as well. 💡⚡
Have a blessed week!
