Be Ready — Your Reaction Reveals What Is Inside You
In our industry, we learn very quickly that not everything goes according to plan.
You can arrive at a job expecting a simple repair and suddenly discover a much bigger problem. A cable may be damaged where you did not expect it. A circuit may trip for a reason that takes hours to find. A client may be frustrated. Equipment can fail. Plans can change.
That is why a good electrician does not only arrive with a plan — he arrives prepared for the unexpected.
Life is much the same.
Challenges will come. Disappointments will come. People will test your patience. Plans will change. Doors may close unexpectedly, and situations may develop that you never saw coming.
The real question is not:
“Will I face challenges?”
The question is:
“How will I react when they come?”
Galatians 5:22–23 gives us one of the clearest pictures of what our reaction should increasingly look like:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance…”
These are not qualities that are only useful when everything is going well.
They become most visible when things are not going well.
Pressure Reveals What Is Inside
Think about an electrical installation.
Under normal conditions everything may appear perfectly fine. But when load is applied, weaknesses can suddenly become visible.
A poor connection starts heating.
An undersized conductor shows its limitations.
A faulty breaker becomes noticeable.
In the same way, pressure often reveals what is happening inside us.
It is easy to speak about patience when nobody is testing it.
It is easy to speak about peace when everything is going according to plan.
It is easy to speak about kindness when everyone is treating us well.
But when pressure comes, our response shows what we have been developing inside.
That is where the Fruit of the Spirit becomes practical.
When someone disappoints you — choose love.
When circumstances are difficult — protect your joy.
When everyone around you is panicking — carry peace.
When something takes much longer than expected — practise patience.
When someone speaks harshly — respond with kindness.
When you have the opportunity to take a shortcut — choose goodness.
When you cannot see the outcome yet — remain faithful.
When your pride wants to fight back — choose gentleness.
And when emotions want to take control — practise self-control.
Preparation Happens Before the Emergency
We do not start looking for our test equipment after the fault occurs.
We prepare beforehand.
We make sure our tools are ready.
We understand the regulations.
We keep our knowledge current.
We prepare ourselves so that when the unexpected happens, we are able to deal with it properly.
Spiritually, the principle is the same.
You cannot wait until the pressure arrives before deciding what kind of person you want to be.
Build your relationship with God now.
Spend time in His Word now.
Develop patience now.
Practise forgiveness now.
Learn self-control now.
Grow your faith now.
Because when the difficult moment arrives, you will respond from what has already been growing inside you.
You Cannot Control Everything — But You Can Control Your Response
Sometimes we spend enormous amounts of energy wishing that circumstances were different.
But there will always be things outside our control.
You cannot control every person's behaviour.
You cannot control every business situation.
You cannot prevent every disappointment.
You cannot predict every challenge.
But with God's help, you can decide how you will respond.
Proverbs 16:32 reminds us:
“He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.”
True strength is not always shown by how loudly we react.
Sometimes strength is staying calm.
Sometimes strength is walking away.
Sometimes strength is forgiving.
Sometimes strength is waiting.
Sometimes strength is trusting God when you do not yet understand what He is doing.
Be Ready
This week, do not pray only for an easier road.
Pray that God will prepare you for whatever the road brings.
Ask Him to grow His Spirit inside you so that when the unexpected happens, your reaction reflects Him.
Challenges will come.
Pressure will come.
Unexpected situations will come.
Be ready.
Not because you know exactly what tomorrow will bring — but because you know Who walks into tomorrow with you.
And when the pressure comes, may the Fruit of the Spirit be visible in the way you respond.
Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness. Gentleness. Self-control.
Because sometimes the greatest testimony is not the challenge we overcome —
it is the way we behave while we are going through it.
